Depression and Anxiety: Symptoms of Our Illusions, Not Diseases

Depression and Anxiety: Symptoms of Our Illusions, Not Diseases

Let’s agree on a fundamental and crucial point: Depression and anxiety are actually just "symptoms," not diseases in and of themselves.

The whole issue starts with a simple trick we play on ourselves... you build castles of dreams, live in a beautiful illusion, and when that illusion vanishes or you suddenly wake up to reality... you get depressed.

The problem is that we rarely learn the lesson! Instead of absorbing what just happened, we go out and build a new illusion, then start "worrying" and fearing that this new one will collapse or fail to come true. And just like that, we enter a vicious cycle:

  • You build an illusion.
  • You lose it, so you get depressed.
  • You build another one, so you get anxious about it.

So, if you genuinely want to stop suffering from depression or anxiety in your life, the solution is simple: Stay awake, and don't attach yourself to any illusion.

The Bare Truth: Empty Hands

This is the reality we all have to accept: We come into this world with empty hands, and we will leave it with empty hands.

If you want to mourn your luck, call it a "bitter reality," and start complaining, crying out: "Why is it like this, God?"... well, that’s your problem alone. You need to realize that whatever you feel internally is entirely of your own making. Any psychological suffering you continue to endure is, ultimately, your own choice.

How to Stop Resisting Life

If you learn to live with this obvious truth and stop resisting the natural flow and laws of life, only then will you know how to truly enjoy yourself and live with genuine freedom and lightness.

But until you reach that realization, you'll just keep spinning in circles and thrashing about (like a bug trapped in a bowl). You won't know up from down, and you'll keep throwing the blame for your mistakes and misery onto your circumstances, fate, and other people.

A simple message:
If you truly understand it and absorb it from within... you will find peace. But if the point misses you and you start overanalyzing and overthinking it with your mind, it won't do you any good. So, just save these words for now. They might not mean much to you today, but come back to them later... they might help you immensely when you're finally ready to understand them.
