Are you here just to work for someone else, scared of your boss, chasing money, only to be replaced by AI in the end?
I'm not saying this to scare you. I'm saying it because there's a question that matters more than all of that, and most of us go through our whole lives without asking it.
Why are you here?
That's the first question to ask yourself, before you choose a job, a degree or any path in life. If you skip it, your choices and decisions end up random, and you'll regret whichever road you take, however "good" it looks to other people.
People do a hundred things at once and open fronts left and right in their lives, but never stop for a moment to ask this simple, essential question.
Is that even a life?
Being a robot's stand-in. Keeping your head down, always afraid, and losing everything you saved in the end, with no joy and no passion to live for. Is that the meaning of your life? Or rather, is that even a life?
I don't know, I'm just asking. But to me, God put a particular passion inside every person, a talent, and it's ours to discover and follow. Through it, you give something other people truly value, and you add something to their lives.
Imagine the world without them
Imagine life without the writers, artists and scientists we know and love. It would be an incomplete life, without colour. Now imagine if all of them had never followed their passion, and had stayed afraid, chasing a monthly paycheck, the kind of paycheck nobody can manage to save from these days, in Europe or in struggling poorer countries.
Security is a lie
The point I'm trying to make: life belongs to those who listen to their heart and dare to live it with love, not fear, giving everything they have without endless calculating and worrying.
Yes, that takes confidence and all your energy. Whoever lives it afraid, on the sidelines, wanting only security, will watch life slip away. And one day they'll discover that the security they were chasing was just an illusion our fears create, something no one has ever actually achieved or proven in their life.
Near the end of the video there's a painting of a man walking with a stick on his back, and a carrot hanging from it with a tag that reads "Security". Every step he takes, the carrot moves with him. That's exactly it: whoever runs after security keeps running.
Where do I start?
I'm not telling you to quit your job tomorrow morning. I'm telling you not to let fear make your decisions for you. Life is a risk, constant change. Don't cling to small things out of fear so tightly that you never reach the bigger things you truly deserve, the things you were made for.
Try something simple this week. Write down two things: what makes you lose track of time when you're doing it, and what you're not doing only because you're afraid. Then give the first one a single hour a week, just one, and notice what happens inside you.
