The Story of "Shiva" and the 112 Techniques: How to Transcend Your Mind
Thousands of years ago, under a full moon much like the ones we see these days, an Indian legend tells of a strange figure emerging from the foothills of the Himalayas. He was a tall young man with a strong physique, but the strange thing about him wasn't his appearance; it was his absolute stillness. He sat completely alone the entire time without moving a single muscle. Yet, he was 100% present and awake—he wasn't asleep at all.
This sparked amazement and debate among the people who saw him. They were astonished by his incredible ability to remain still and serene for such long periods, as if his body didn't even belong to him, completely free from any biological needs dictating movement. They marveled at this profound patience and how he managed to transcend not just his mind, thoughts, and moods, but even his body's hormones and physiology, appearing as if he belonged to a completely different dimension.
The Test of Patience... and the Chosen Seven
People came and went, driven by curiosity to understand the nature of this man and uncover his secret. However, no one had the patience to sit with him for very long. In the end, only seven people remained. They were more determined than the rest, staying by his side until he finally opened his eyes. In that moment, he realized that these seven were truly worthy of learning the power of meditation and how to transcend the self with all its fluctuating thoughts and moods.
He then gave them 112 meditation techniques. Every single exercise has the power on its own to transform a human being into a completely different person. But whoever manages to experience and master all 112 techniques will essentially crack the code of the human mind, understanding its tricks, its illusions, and how it controls our psychology and keeps us under its thumb.
My Journey with the "Vigyan Bhairav Tantra"
These techniques were passed down through generations over thousands of years, preserved in a book known as the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra. I personally reviewed all of them, and it took me about two years just to fully grasp, digest, and adapt them in a practical way that fits the rhythm of our modern era.
By the way, this person is known today in India as "Shiva." Some people there elevate him to a deity, while others consider him a normal human being and simply the first "Yogi" or yoga teacher in history.
But that categorization doesn't matter to us; because these techniques are purely practical exercises. They are not philosophical or religious teachings. The matter is 100% practical, focusing entirely on full attention and mindfulness, and has absolutely nothing to do with polytheism, heresy, or any of that nonsense (this is a necessary disclaimer for the "parrots" who misunderstand these things and blindly repeat what they hear).
One Exercise is Enough to Change Your Life!
One day, I aim to share these exercises exclusively with the users of the Okaz app. In my opinion, these techniques are incredibly practical, and anyone who succeeds in learning just one exercise and practices it consistently for only 3 months will find themselves a completely different person, with a clear mind, as if they were born again.
By the way, I previously posted the very first and simplest exercise from this series on this page, and I pinned it for anyone who wants to try it out.
If I see genuine interest in this topic from you all, I will soon share these exercises in very simple language directly on the app, God willing.
